Essential Tachograph Calibration From Argent Equipment
The Argent Equipment team offers the full range of vehicle testing services from our workshops located to the West of Dublin. We’re known for the quality of our work, as well as our industry expertise. However, something else we offer is tachograph calibration.
For certain types of commercial vehicles (Typically PSVs with fewer than 8 seats and HGVs over 3.5 Tonnes), tachographs are used to ensure that both drivers and employers adhere to the EU’s rules on commercial driving. They also need to be regularly calibrated.
Tachograph Calibrations Are Mandatory
It’s mandatory under EU law to have a tachograph for a commercial vehicle every two years. Often carried out as part of your annual HCV, it’s necessary to ensure that the device - that records both driving and rest times, as well as other data like speed - measures accurately.
In order to remain compliant with regulations, your tachograph should be calibrated by an approved party - such as the Argent team. Other times when your tachograph might need calibrating include an interruption of power to a digital tachograph.
It’s something that is extremely important to get rectified, as failure to adhere to the EU and AETR rules on the subject can land you in serious trouble. Fines in the thousands of Euros are not uncommon - something that might also apply if it appears that the device has been tampered with fraudulently.
The overall Tachograph calibration services we offer at Argent include the following:
Analogue Calibration
Digital Calibration
Smart Calibration
Fault Finding
If unsure about anything we’ve spoken about here, we’d recommend giving our team a call. They can give you the guidance you need to ensure that you stay on the right side of the law.
